2. What are cookies?
Small text files placed on your device that enable website functionality and certain features (e.g., video playback).

3. Cookies we use

• Essential (required) – Provide core site features (security, page load, consent record). These do not require consent.
• Functional / External Media – Enable content from third parties (e.g., YouTube). When you click Play, YouTube may set cookies on your device to deliver and improve playback and to personalize content in line with your YouTube/Google settings.
• (Future) Analytics – Measure site usage (e.g., Google Analytics).
• (Future) Marketing – Personalize ads or track cross-site activity.

Current status: SEDM uses essential cookies and external media (YouTube/video) only. No analytics or marketing cookies are used at this time.

4. Legal basis

• Essential cookies: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in running a secure, usable site).
• External media (YouTube): Your action of pressing Play constitutes consent (Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR) for those third-party cookies.

5. Managing cookies
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking essential cookies may impair site functionality. For YouTube specifically, you can use “Restricted Mode,” log out of Google, or visit our pages with embeds disabled via your browser settings/extensions.

6. YouTube privacy
We use YouTube’s privacy-enhanced mode where possible. Nevertheless, when you press Play, data may be transferred to YouTube/Google. For details, see Google’s Privacy Policy.

7. Updates
We may update this policy to reflect new cookies or services. The “Last updated” date will change accordingly.
